NEUROMODULATORS AKA BOTOX

The injection of botulinum toxin, commonly known as Botox. First granted U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval to treat frown lines in 2002, Botox remains one of the most popular cosmetic procedures on the market for the prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. Multiple formulations of botulinum toxin exist, including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau.

Most physically healthy, non-smokers are good candidates for botulinum toxin A.

Allergy to botulinum toxin A

2 (easily tolerated)

$ 11 - 15 per unit

Results are noticeable after 2 weeks and lasts about 3-4 months for most people.

Do not rub or massage the treated areas after the procedure, because it can cause the drug to migrate to another area. There is little to no downtime or recovery time. You may resume most normal activities immediately.

DERMAL FILLERS

Injectable dermal fillers help diminish facial lines and restore volume & fullness. This procedure has been known to help plump thin lips, enhance shallow contours, soften facial creases, remove wrinkles and improve the appearance of recessed scars by injecting fillers into the face with a needle.

Most physically healthy clients.

Patients with a history of severe allergy or anaphylaxis, bleeding disorders, or allergy to components in the product preparation should not receive dermal fillers.

2 (easily tolerated)

15-60 minutes, depending on the area(s).

Varies but results are immediate and typically last about 6 months to a year or longer.

Complications are uncommon but can be serious. Potential risks vary depending on the specific filler used and treatment areas. Possible complications include acne-like skin eruptions, asymmetry, swelling, lumps, infection at site, rash with itching, and blocked arteries.

There is no downtime with dermal fillers. Initial side effects include mild swelling, bruising, and/or temporary numbness or redness.

PDO THREADS

Polydioxanone (PDO) thread lift involves the use of barbed threads which are inserted under the skin and pulled taut. This is a minimally invasive method of lifting sagging skin of the face. Areas treated with this method include the eyebrows, the cheeks, the jowls and the neck. Ease of use and a shorter downtime have made their the thread face lift popular.

The best candidates for a thread face lift are in their 30s to 60s who have relatively good skin tone. Most are beginning to experience sagging in their face or neck, but do not have excessively loose skin or drooping facial areas that might require more rigorous face lift surgery. If signs of aging are relatively minimal, a thread lift may be a good way to make cosmetic enhancements while avoiding face lift scarring and other potential side effects, which sometimes occur after more intensive surgical procedures.

Contradictions to thread face lifts include multiple skin allergic reactions or infections, dandruff, hair lice, immunologically compromising diseases like cancer/ HIV etc., systemic diseases like diabetes and tuberculosis, etc.

Local anesthetic is used, which makes pain minimal.

Approximately $200+ per thread.

20-60 minutes depending on the area(s) and number of threads.

Some patients report seeing a benefit for one year, and some say a year and a half.

Like all procedures, PDO threads carry the possibility of complications, which include, but are not limited to infection, facial distortion such as dimpling, chronic pain, palpable lumps.

MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in fine lines, scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

Most healthy adults.

Keloids, eczema, psoriasis, and other chronic skin conditions. History of actinic (solar) keratosis, herpes simplex infections, diabetes, presence of raised moles, warts or any raised lesions on targeted area. Absolute contraindications include scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities, Rosacea and blood-clotting problems, active infection, immunosuppression, and/or scars less than six months old.

1 (easily tolerated) after topical anesthetic.

The procedure takes roughly an hour.

You will see results with one treatment, but the results will be even greater if you do a series of treatments. Some recommend that patients have microneedling performed every 4–6 weeks for at least 4 sessions, depending on their goals and how well the skin heals.

Some side-effects may include pigment loss or increase, skin infection, bleeding at the treatment site, redness, and/or inflammation.

After the session, you can expect to be red for a period of up to five days, but you can wear mineral makeup starting the next day to hide the color. Many patients can expect to be able to go out to dinner the following night. People may experience some mild burning, tightness, and peeling. Noticeable difference in the texture of the skin will occur within a couple of weeks.
